Meeting Minutes

August 3, 2009

 

 

The Fowler Township Board of Trustees met in regular session in the Fowler Township Community Center on August 3, 2009 at 7:30pm. Member present were Alby Crabbs,  Tom Carr and Jim Haun.  Tom Carr opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.  Meeting minutes were read and approved from last meeting. 

 

FIRE REPORT  Chief Yungbluth reported 23 runs, 101 men responding, 149 man hours with 39 training hours for the month of July, 2009.  Chief Yungbluth reported that Concord Care in Fowler is now calling a private ambulance company, in accordance with their insurance coverage.  Chief stated that when patient is in critical condition, we are much closer and should be dispatched through 911.  He will be checking on the details.  He reported that squad #23 had the brakes repaired, but still has slight vibration. Chief will get costs for testing engines from Doug Elser.  Nims 400 is coming up.  Chief will contact Julius painters for painting of truck bay. Fowler Township will have 2 volunteers at a time in Air Base parking lot from 7 am thru end of day.  

 

RESOLUTION 65-2009 PURCHASES/ PAY PER CALL  Tom Carr  motioned to approve purchase and payment of new battery for Chiefs cell phone.  Also approval of July 2009 pay per call as submitted by Chief, totaling $1317.50.   Jim Haun 2nd. Jim Haun, Yes.  Albert Crabbs, Yes. Tom Carr, Yes.  

 

ZONING REPORT  Nancy Shook reported that no permits were issued in the month of July, 2009.  Her report to the Trustees was reviewed and discussed.  Discussion followed about current violations and the list of non compliance letters Nancy sent to residents. 

 

POLICE REPORT  Chief  Mike Currington was present and reported 48 calls, no arrests, 6 assists, 21 traffic warnings with 3 citations for the month of July. Chief Currington requested the purchase of misc. office supplies including paper. 

 

RESOLUTION 66-2009 PURCHASE  Albert Crabbs motioned to approve purchase and payment of necessary office supplies for the police dept. office.  Tom Carr 2nd. Jim Haun, Yes.  Albert Crabbs, Yes. Tom Carr, Yes

 

ROAD DEPARTMENT REPORT Pat Arnal reported that we have been approved for 100 ton of road salt, he will order 75 tons to start, with Trustees approval. If he sees the  necessity of the additional 25 tons he will inform the Trustees.  

 

RESOLUTION 67-2009 SALT ORDER  Tom Carr motioned to approve purchase and payment on 75 tons of road salt from Morton Salt at a cost of $54.77 a ton. Also approval to purchase necessary anti-skid from Kinsman Materials at $8.00 a ton.  Jim Haun 2nd.  Jim Haun, Yes.  Albert Crabbs, Yes. Tom Carr, Yes 

 

Trustees commended Pat Arnal and Jeff Kisk for the excellent job on the Tar and Chip this year, the roads look good. 

 

Alby Crabbs requested a report on the total cost of tar and chip, including wages, materials and the miles of roads done.

 

Mark Bockelman requested placing a sign in the greens promoting a 6 week sale at his business, raising money for the Trumbull County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund.

 

Alby set the planning meeting for the Fowler Township Christmas Walk for the 14th of September at 7:00 pm, before the Township Meeting.  Pat will advertise for volunteers on Township Marquee.

 

Tom Carr discussed a firm offering Fleet maintenance that will provide maintenance on location for the departments.  Company out of Poland, no decision made at this time. 

  

RESLOLUTION 68-2009 ADJOURN  Tom Carr motioned to Adjourn and pay bills.
